What Is a Prediction Model?

A prediction Model produces probability-based forecasts about future outcomes using a defined forecasting strategy.

A direct definition

A prediction Model is a repeatable forecasting system that produces probability-based forecasts about future outcomes. On Matrix Sig, a Model can evaluate eligible questions, publish forecasts, and build a public performance history. Analysts are people; Models are systems. Both use timestamped records and the same broad probability-aware scoring standard.

Models, questions, and probabilities

A Model is connected to eligible questions and assigns probabilities rather than only making an unsupported claim. The question resolves later, allowing the probability to be evaluated against what happened.

Models versus human Analysts

An Analyst is a human account; a Model is a forecasting system with its own profile and configuration. Both can be compared using public records and the same broad probability-aware scoring standard.

Matrix Sig’s no-code option

Matrix Sig provides a free, no-code managed Model Maker. Users can customize coverage, method, research settings, instructions, and Forecast horizon without building an integration. “Model” does not automatically mean AI; the current product uses the broader forecasting Model terminology.
